Scholarships
Information on applying for and receiving a scholarship from Phoenix AKARAMA Foundation
Phoenix AKARAMA foundation offers undergraduate scholarships to deserving Female High school seniors and Community College students each year. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, campus involvement, community service and leadership. Through the generous contributions of the public and supporters, the Foundation awarded $25,000 in undergraduate and Bookships for the 2008-2009 academic year to 7 outstanding recipients.
Undergraduate Scholarships
Established in 2000, to date the undergraduate scholarships program has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarship grants. Any phoenix Area female high school senior is eligible to apply that meets the scholarship requirements of:
~ Are African-American
~ Are graduating high school seniors entering a four-year college or university OR are community college students transferring to a four-year college or university
~ Have a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
~ Are interested in careers in education (for the Dr. Peggy L. Payne Memorial Scholarship only).
The scholarship deadline for the 2009-2010 academic year is March 12, 2010. The application packet for the 2009-2010 academic year is posted below.

Karen A Williams Scholarship
The Karen Williams Scholarship was established by her family to honor the memory of educator, Karen Williams.
Dr. Peggy L. Payne Memorial Scholarship
The Peggy Payne Scholarship was established by her family in honor of her memory.
