SCHOLARSHIPS

SCHOLARSHIP.

SERVICE.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE.

The Phoenix AKARAMA Foundation is pleased to announce its scholarship program for the 2019-2020 school year. In recent years, our local chapter has awarded numerous scholarships to very deserving students. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the oldest Black Greek letter organization established in America by African American college women.  Our mission is to provide service to all mankind by volunteering our time and resources to multifaceted programs that address education, health and wellness, as well as issues of national and international concern.

Applications for scholarships are accepted from young women who:

  • Are graduating high school seniors entering a four-year college or university OR are community college students transferring to a four-year college or university

  • Have a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Are interested in careers in education (for the Dr. Peggy L. Payne Memorial Scholarship only)

The Scholarship Committee would like to thank you for your interest in applying during our 2020 season. Due to concerns related to the growing coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic we have determined that the application deadline will be extended until Friday, April 17, 2020. This is to provide applicants with additional time to gather the necessary documents and materials.
